Dash is a multidisciplinary community driven by our mission to create better designed futures. Born in 2017 right here at Aalto University, Dash began with a simple yet powerful idea. While Finland's startup ecosystem was thriving, there was a crucial element missing—Design.

Since then, Dash has evolved into something truly unique—a multidisciplinary powerhouse that brings together students from diverse backgrounds to tackle real-world challenges faced by Finland's top businesses, and now even Startups! We are most known for our annual Dash Hack - one of the biggest design thinking hackathons in the Nordics.

Aalto Startup Center is a hybrid accelerator offering its own incubator and accelerator services, as well as several partnership programs. Its focus is on sustainable research-based and innovative deep-tech startups. The core functionality is to coach pre-startups and early-stage startups to seek out and maximize their own unique potential to grow and scale up. Another supporting function of Aalto Startup Center is also to arrange a wide range of training, where the aim is to transfer knowledge and awareness to our startups about how to build sustainable and healthy businesses.You can learn more about them here: link

So no matter if you are an architect, marketer, UX designer, coder or something else entirely, in Dash there's room and need for everyone!

No, you apply as an individual - we take care of the team forming process and make sure your team will be diverse, functional, and awesome. But yes, you and your friend are both warmly welcome to apply!

If you're studying at Aalto University, you can apply for 1 ECTS credits to count into your elective studies. More information on how to claim the credits will be released closer to the event date! If you study in some other university, we recommend you to contact your course coordinator and ask whether that would be possible in your university as well.

There's no previous experience required for participating in the Morphing Minds Hackathon, just eagerness to learn! We'll teach you how to effectively use design thinking methodologies and you'll receive guidance from our mentors to make the most of your team's multidisciplinarity and tackle the challenge!

Briefly described, design thinking is a problem-solving process that prioritises the user's needs above all else, undergoes multiple iterations, and is a hands-on approach to creating innovative solutions!

We in Dash believe design thinking is a fantastic tool to create sustainable solutions and optimal experiences for both customers and organizations. And it's something that everybody can, and should, learn!
